I took these photos, looking for the right angles in these pictures. The way I would take them is to first find a good subject, then find a good angle to take the picture. I liked the pictures because I was able to capture the subject well throughout my pictures. However, one thing I would improve on was to get better lighting in the photo. This made me a better photographer because I was able to spot out and focus on the subject well while taking pictures.
Element Photos
The elements that I used in my photos were lines (picture with lines of in the green grass), shapes (picture of yellow parking spot), and texture(picture of gravel). I first tried to find the element with my eyes. After that I tried to find the best position so that the picture is best shown. For example for the picture where I had the element lines, I knew that I needed to be on higher ground in order to fully capture the element. This made me a better photographer because it showed me how much of an impact elements in a photo has.
Dramatic Lighting
When I was taking Dramatic Lighting photos, I really wanted to focus on the subject(which was what the light was reflecting onto). So I tried to find any light sources that showed a glimmer onto the subject of the photo. Once I was able to find the lighting and the subject, I tried to position myself where I could show dramatic lighting the most. I like the light sources that I had selected, however I could have improved because the subject was no displayed very clearly. This made me a better photographer because I was able to learn the impact of lighting on a picture.
Portraits
I really liked how the face was angled in the second picture so that one side would have light while the other side would not have that much light. We can see the triangle on her face in the Rembrandt styled photo. I also liked the lighting in the second picture on Sri's face, I think that there is just enough light. This meant that we had figured a good ISO and Shutter Speed to get a certain light on the picture. One thing that I didn’t like about the 2nd picture was that there was not that much light in the background. However, this was because the back light was not working at the time. In my opinion, it takes away from the overall picture a little. This made me a better photographer because I could apply the knowledge I previously had about lighting and position on people.
Arranged Objects
I chose to arrange my sisters’ objects for this assignment. The objects that I had selected of hers suggests that my sister is a fun and hard-working person. We can see that she is hardworking because of her medals and trophies, but also fun because of the sunglasses, optical illusion toy, and bracelets. I like this photo because I think that I did a good job at portraying what my sister is like. The only thing that I didn't like about this photo is that I should have brought more items so that it is a little more visually appealing. This made me a better photographer because after this assignment, I learned how important position is in a photo.
Golden Hour/Night Shots
I chose to do light writing instead of taking pictures of golden hours or night shots. Although I was doing the process right, I couldn't set a shutter priority on my phone which meant that I had to take the photos separately. Also I could have made the Shutter Seed larger(faster), so that the ends are not blurry in some photos. I did not take golden hour photos, however I still learned when is the best time to take pictures. This made me a better photographer overall.
Color, Color, Color
In the picture of the see-saw, I chose to portray complementary colors through red and green. I took the picture at an angle at which red and green would stand out the most. After I took the photo, I chose my complementary color scheme and added a gradient map over the picture. In my second color photo I displayed the compound color scheme through the colors pink, yellow, and green. I repeated the process of which I took and edited my first picture, except I chose my compound color scheme to be onto the gradient map. This made me a better photographer because it showed me the value of color and how the brightness/darkness of color plays with the photo.
Street Photography
Some things I like about my street photography photos are the elements in them. For example, in the picture where the father is holding his daughter, we can see the emotion being portrayed in the photo. In the picture with the person biking around, we can see the background which kind of portrays urban landscapes. One thing that I didn't like was the quality of the photo. Although it was decent quality, it wasn't as perfect as I wanted it to be. The difficult part for me was when I was taking candid photos, I would always have to put my phone in a position where the subject cant see me take a picture of them. This is why the quality was not as high as I wanted it to be. This helped me as a photographer because it gave me a little experience to the real world and how much different it is than other types of photography.
Cloning
The first step I had to do in making my cloning photo was to find a setting which I liked. After that I tried to think of a “story” that I could show through the image. Then I took multiple photos at different positions but with the same background (I did this using a tripod). After that I sent all the pictures to photoshop where I was able to combine all my pictures into one final picture. This has benefited me as a photographer because it introduced me to the technical side of photos, which was editing them.
High-key and Clamshell
I liked the amount of lighting that I had gotten on the high key photo (left), even before the editing. After I increased the brightness through photoshop, I thought that the photo had improved a lot. I didn't like the lighting in the background of the clamshell photo (right), but I couldn't increase it because at the time the back light was not working. This made me a better photographer because it showed me how models got their photos taken. Also I was able to learn how to edit the photo to make it more visually appealing
Lifestyle
I chose to show my sisters’ lifestyle from the morning to night. I got pictures of her sleeping in the morning, all the way to her getting ready to sleep at night. I liked these pictures because I adjusted the ISO and shutter speed so that the right amount of light would enter the camera. I also like the pictures because I was able to take them at a good angle, without distracting her too much. This made me a better photographer because I was able to practice taking candid pictures.
